Lacquer, Oil, or Hardwax Oil?

When it comes to natural wood flooring, the key question arises: how do we protect it without losing its natural beauty? There are three main players on the modern market: lacquer, natural oil, and hardwax oil.
Here is what you need to know about each of them:
1. 2-Component Parquet Lacquer: "The Impenetrable Shield"
Lacquer creates a protective layer on the wood surface. It is ideal for those who want maximum protection with minimal daily maintenance.
✅ Pros: Withstands large amounts of water and household chemicals. Requires no periodic renewal for years.
❌ Cons: The wood loses its direct texture. If a scratch appears, local repair is impossible — the entire room must be refinished.
⭐ Best for: High-traffic commercial spaces or families where liquids are frequently spilled on the floor.
2. Natural Oil: "The Wood's Breath"
Oil does not remain on the surface — it penetrates deep into the wood's pores and strengthens it from within.
✅ Pros: The most ecological and natural choice. The wood "breathes," which prevents deformation. Scratches can be repaired locally.
❌ Cons: Requires more frequent maintenance and specialist soaps. Sensitive to staining if liquids are left on the surface for too long.
⭐ Best for: Lovers of natural materials and bedroom spaces.
3. Hardwax Oil: "The Golden Middle Ground"
Combines the best properties of both oil and lacquer.
✅ Pros: Preserves the wood's natural texture. Far more resistant to liquids than plain oil. Local repair is possible.
❌ Cons: Requires periodic renewal (once every 3–5 years), though the process is very simple.
⭐ Best for: Ideal for living rooms, kitchens, and children's rooms.
